I have always admired and respected books since my childhood and probably it was those science fiction books that have inspired me to love science, to explore the world of engineering. My interest in science and engineering was much enlivened when I studied real science, not just fictions, throughout my school life. After completing High School, it didn’t take me so long to decide that I want to get involved in such a field, develop such skills that will help me acquire and apply scientific, mathematical, social and practical knowledge for the improvement of human life. And I am happy to realize that I have been following the right path since I have chosen Information and Computer Science as my major. The more I get to know various areas of Computer Science and Engineering, the more I am convinced to dig deeper to learn.

I think the reason for why I am studying Information Engineering presently at Kagawa National College of Technology (KNCT) is the fact that Japan’s technological superiority in many modern technologies and the image as a techno-economic superpower have exerted great influence on developing countries including my homeland Bangladesh. My current institution provided me all types of facilities to learn different interesting subjects such as Algorithmic design, Computer Programming, Compilers, Natural Language Processing, Digital Image Processing, Database Management System, Web Design, Web Management, Network System Analysis etc. All of these fields have direct applications to our day to day life as we use technology at home, school, shops and almost everywhere we go. And while studying these fields, I realized that Computer Science is based on logical approach using our mathematical knowledge and it clearly emerged from our huge effort towards achieving the target to improve the standard of human life. As a student of KNCT, I was engaged in developing several websites, software for internet broadcasting. I always loved innovating new designs and tried to install much friendlier user interface in all my projects. I involved myself in the NCT programming contest and built databases for data processing. I learnt how to use 3D graphical software and launched small projects to improve my skill. I got wonderful opportunity to experience the development of creative software produced by our programming club at KNCT. I was also greatly motivated by the idea of smartphone and started iPhone Development as my research work to program some cool applications that may help users do complex tasks. I felt that Programming is an art and a great tool for creativity. The story of the famous founders Linus Torvalds(Linux), Steve Jobs(Apple), Bill Gates(Microsoft), Mark Zuckerberg(Facebook) and computer scientists like Tim Berners-Lee(WWW), Shannon(AI) gave me enormous amounts of inspiration and helped me come to the conclusion that I want to be a Computer Scientist and build my career as a researcher devoted to the development of Computer Science.

My desire to be a Computer Scientist and satisfy my research interests require me to enroll into the Department of Information and Computer Science at a Japanese University. I was pretty determined to take admission into a university course where I can continue my research that is well-connected with what I am researching now at KNCT. My thesis required for my graduation from Kagawa National College of Technology is related to not only just developing a network based broadcasting software but also solving the low speed streaming problems that the people of Bangladesh face while using internet. Here I want to mention that my country Bangladesh is going through a challenging phase of changes that are instrumental for development dynamics. Though we have yet a lot of crisis and instability, the emergence of enterpreneurship specially in IT, Telecommunication sector is surprising and overwhelming. I think the young citizens like me across the globe can contribute to expedite the development of Bangladesh with our multidimensional views, problem solving attitude and process implementation efficiency that we gained after staying and experiencing foreign systems outside Bangladesh. As I have been studying and researching on computing and networking technology in my college of technology, in future I want to help strengthen the telecommunication network infrastructure of my country.

I believe problems and challenges of various kinds in every discipline are the driving force for a researcher in his field to conduct ground breaking research. Keeping that in mind I am intending to attend the Department of Information and Computer Science at the School of Engineering Science at Osaka University. The objective of my course as described in the departmental website is to understand practical phenomena, problems and give solutions by constructing and analyzing mathematical models. For the purpose, I am going to learn how to extensively utilize advanced mathematics and computers such as computer simulations, network analysis techniques, computer graphics, and to develop algorithms and implement them using high level programming languages. I think my course at Osaka University will be the perfect continuation of what I have been studying at my current Information Engineering course at KNCT. And that is why I am giving preference to Osaka University over the Information Science Department at the School of Informatics at Tsukuba University though with due respect I should say that they also have a pretty well-structured course. After completing my university course, I want to enroll into graduate college for higher studies and conduct research on algorithms focusing on mathematics to solve network based problems. I am also interested in the ongoing research in my department at Osaka University on several problems in natural science and economics which are being studied from the viewpoint of mathematical analysis.

What I believe is that all my education, experiences and knowledge can only be proved fruitful if I can devote them with wise intention for the development of my country, well being of my country people and in a broader sense for total human knowledge.
